Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2), formerly TSI

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a series of placement tests for students enrolling in public colleges and universities in Texas. The assessments assist institutions determine if a student is ready for college-level courses in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. If a student is not ready for college-level courses, the assessment will help determine the types of courses or intervention to best prepare students for college-level course work. The TSIA2 is required by law in the State of Texas for all that do not meet one or more of the TSIA2 Exemptions. All information submitted for TSIA2 exemption must come via official means and subject to verification.

Preparing for your Assessment - Completing the Pre-Assessment Activity 

If you are a prospective student with interest in attending a Texas college or university and have been advised to take teh TSIAssessment 2.0, you must first complete the free Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) to meet the minimum requirements of Rule §4.55.b of the Texas Administrative Code. Our partner, Accuplacer provides the PAA for the University Testing Center and can be found by clicking here - Accuplacer Pre-Assessment Activity. Please use your personal email when setting up your Accuplacer account. 

The University Testing Center Staff will confirm the completion of your PAA. If there is no PAA, you will not receive the Voucher Code needed to complete your TSIAssessment 2.0 and this will prohibit registration for courses. There are no exceptions to this requirement, it is required by law.

  • Remote Voucher - Student must live 30 miles or more from Texas Southern University or Out of State.
      • Remote @ Home - using a personal computer with camera that must pass the equipment test.
