All commencement participants must register using their TSU Email Address through the link provided. Be prepared to complete the requested information for Registration Confirmation, RSVP, and other graduation updates.
Yes, information is being updated regularly, and updates will be sent as any changes are made.
All participants must check in at the Science Building
- Participants are required to wear black Academic Regalia (gown) and Black Cap with a Tassel. (Some schools and colleges may be a bit different (Doctoral, TMSL, Pharmacy)
- Participants will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony without the appropriate academic commencement attire.
- Participants should wear comfortable, professional dress attire under their gown, along with comfortable shoes. (no flip-flops).
In the bookstore or online through Herff Jones
Orders can also be placed for invitations, Class rings & Stoles. Online order with Herff Jones will include a shipping charge. If you need, please contact the bookstore 713-313-7030.
Reach out to your Academic Advisor for your major if you have questions
A graduate student who is within six hours of completing their graduate degree and will complete their degree may attend the graduation ceremony. The current policy is intended for graduate students only, not undergraduate students.
Please direct all questions regarding graduation status to your assigned Department,
Major Academic Advisor, or Chairperson.

A clear bag policy will be enforced. Only clear bags will be allowed inside the arena.
For the safety and security of our campus community, Texas Southern University has implemented a Clear Bag Policy for select facilities and events.
APPROVED BAGS
- Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags (12" x 6" x 12" or smaller)
- Small clutch or wallet (4.5" x 6.5" or smaller)
- Medical or diaper bags (subject to inspection)
PROHIBITED BAGS
- Backpacks, large purses, briefcases, laptop or camera bags
- Drawstring or mesh bags, luggage, non-clear fanny packs
SECURITY SCREENING
- All approved bags are subject to inspection by TSUPD
- Individuals refusing inspection will be denied entry
ENFORCEMENT
This policy is enforced by the Texas Southern University Police Department. Non-compliance may result in denial of entry or removal from the venue.
