Student Accessibility Services Office

Welcome to the Student Accessibility and Support Office (SASO)

TSU’s Student Accessibility and Support Office (SASO) is here to help students with disabilities access the tools and support they need to succeed. We work directly with students to coordinate reasonable accommodations, address barriers, and support academic success. Whether you're new to accommodations or continuing services from a previous school, our team is ready to guide you through the process and answer any questions along the way.

Guided by our core values of self-awareness, self-determination, and self-advocacy, we strive to create a fully accessible and enriching experience for all. We look forward to working with you and supporting you in your academic success.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Accommodations are not retroactive. They begin only after the student has completed the intake process, provided appropriate documentation, and met with our office to establish an accommodation plan. Accommodations cannot be applied to past assignments, exams, or absences that occurred before the plan was finalized. We strongly encourage students to contact our office as early as possible to avoid delays in support.

Important Note About Renewing Accommodations

All accommodations and academic adjustments are course-specific and do not automatically carry over from one semester to the next. Students must renew their accommodations each semester by submitting their updated course schedule and requesting new accommodation letters. This ensures that accommodations are appropriately tailored to the current courses and instructors.

Mission

The Student Accessibility and Support Office (SASO) is dedicated to ensuring equal access to academic programs and services for students with disabilities while they are at TSU. We provide guidance, resources, and reasonable accommodations that remove barriers and support student success.

Vision

SASO strives to foster a learning environment where all students with disabilities have the tools, support, and opportunity to reach their academic goals with confidence and independence.
