How to Obtain Parking Permit Decal

Go to the MyTSU Web and access “Parking Permit Tab” for the vehicle registration form

Apply Parking Permit and print out the application

Go to West garage with following items:

•    Valid Driver’s License
•    Valid Auto Insurance Card
•    Current TSU Student ID Card
•    Completed vehicle registration form (MyTSU) or Payroll Deduction form fill out completely.

Decal Fees

General Parking (Exterior Lots) $265.00 per year ($22.08 monthly)
Faculty/Staff 9 Months $198.72 per year ($22.08 monthly)
Premier Parking (Interior Lots – non reserved) $345.00 per year ($28.75 monthly)
Premier Parking 9 Months $258.75 per year ($28.75 monthly)
24/7 Reserved $450.00 per year ($37.50 monthly)

General Parking (Exterior Lots)

  • General/Non reserved decal holders are prohibited from parking in spaces that are marked reserved.
  • All general parking spaces shall be available on a first come first serve basis.
  • During Special Events and/or Campus Events faculty/staff members that have reserved and premier parking access are not guaranteed parking availability in their designated parking spaces during any event.

Premier Parking (Interior Lots – non reserved)

  • 70% of all Interior lot spaces shall be allocated for Premier Parking decals.
  • 30% of all Interior lot spaces shall be allocated for “Reserved” parking.
  • Premier parking decal holders shall be permitted to park in any space (Exterior or Interior Lots and Garages) that is not allocated for 24/7 Reserved decal holders.
  • All general parking spaces shall be available on a first come first serve basis.

24/7 Reserved

  • During Special Events and/or Campus Events faculty/staff members that have reserved and premier parking access are not guaranteed parking availability in their designated parking spaces during any event.
  • 30% of all interior lot parking spaces will be allocated for 24/7 Reserved decals and will be identified with proper markings.
  • Only University Vice Presidents, Associate Vice Presidents, Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Directors and Executive Directors. Any Exceptions must be approved by University Parking & Transportation Advisory Committee.
  • To obtain a Reserved parking space at Texas Southern University you must meet the following requirements;
    1. Job title or position is Vice President, Associate Vice President, Deans, Associate Dean, Department Chair, Director and/or Executive Director.
    2. If your job title does not meet any of the requirements and would still like to request an reserved parking space, you are required to send that request via email to your Dean, Director or Executive Director stating reasons for the reserved parking space.
    3. Deans, Directors or Executive Directors then are required to send a reserved parking approval via email to the Deputy Chief of Police and/or Director of Security who will have the final approval for any reserved parking request.

access card

  • Access cards are programmed to access faculty/staff parking lots only. Including both East and West Garages.
  • Cards are non- transferable.
  • Cards will be deactivated at the end of year and reactivated only after purchase of a parking permit for the subsequent year.
  • Each entry with the access card must be followed by an exit with the access card. An attempt to allow someone else to enter using your card after you have entered will result in access being denied. This is recorded as an anti-pass back violation which cost $25.00 for a reactivation fee. Anti-pass back violations are subject to fines and/or revocation of campus parking privileges.
  • Access cards must be returned at the end of tenure at TSU.
  • In the event that your hangtag (decal) is lost, stolen, or damaged there will be a $40.00 replacement fee.
  • A $15.00 fee will be assessed on each replacement for lost, damaged or stolen access cards. Replacement access cards will be purchased directly from Bursar’s Office ”E.O Bell Building”, must bring paid receipt to the Westside Garage Parking Department for replacement access card.

Disabled Veteran Parking

In an effort to recognize the sacrifice made by our disabled men and women of the military. Veterans, who qualify in accordance with the Texas Transportation Code 681.008 and 504.202, and meet the below qualifications will receive a parking permit at no charge.

  • Must be a full-time student at Texas Southern University
  • Must provide documentation verifying a combined evaluation of at least 50% percent
  • Must provide a letter stating that they are receiving services connected with disability compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Must provide a current and valid driver’s license along with insurance./li>
  • The vehicle must display a Disable Veteran License plate.
  • Must be the owner or operator of the vehicle
